I have been contacted again this year by Bob Blackman who is organising Rowledge Village Fayre. WSP have been offered a table, no charge, but a donation would be appreciated.
They are expecting 2000 people, so nice local event if someone from WSP would like to take part.
Let me know if you are interested and I will pass on Bob’s contact details to you.
I have been contacted by Birdworld in Farnham, who hold a range of events throughout the year. One of their regular events is Farm Week which will be held from Tuesday, 10th April – Friday, 13th April.
During farm week they usually have farm related activities for the children to take part in such as ferret and goat racing, tractor and horse and cart rides, cow milking (with a wooden cow) and arts and crafts. They also have a number of stalls throughout the week which are related to farming such as coppice workers, corn dolly making, spinners, bee keepers and they sometimes have activities for the children to take part in or do demonstrations.
They are wondering if anyone from West Street Potters would be interested in attending the event to discuss and demonstrate pottery making.
Suggestion is that someone could come along and stay for the full 4 days or just 1 or 2 days, whatever suits them best. It would be free for them to come along and exhibit at this event.
They also have a new event this year is called Crafty Little Artists which is on Wednesday, 29th August. The event is really about celebrating everything to do with art. It will have a range of arty activities for the children to watch and some to take part in. Again, they are wondering if anyone from WSP would be interested in getting involved.
Let me know if you are interested and I will pass on the contact details I have for the event organiser.
The Petersfield Arts and Craft Society are hosting a demostration by Richard Phethean. WSP members who would like to attend can leave cheques for Christine Bull (Tues eve Tutor) on the notice board by the glaze area. Cheques payable to ‘PACS Potters’ please.

Several members have suggested WSP hold a Christmas Exhibition this year (as done in previous years), which is a great idea. It will require volunteers to take on elements of the organisation to make it a success.
Keith has already agreed to transport the Exhibition tables / plinths and Nigel, Shirley, Vron and Tineka from Thursday evening will set up the displays and take them down at the end.
What we will need are other volunteers to cover advertising or receive the work, do the catalogue, organise stewarding duty, preview drinks, glasses and snacks or cash float ( and general treasurer duties) plus collection of sold / unsold work.
People who have helped on previous shows would be a big asset as they will know the ropes and will be able to guide new volunteers.
It is all very easy if we have enough helping hands. Everybody who attends classes would be eligible to show work ( no matter what standard) – we found before that 3 pieces per student (unless they were really BIG ) could be accommodated.
Nigel and Vron have created the following list of activities that need to be undertaken. Please let Rachel know if you are able to help out with any of these. Mobile: 07918 666898 or email@example.com
Once we have a list of volunteers a meeting will be arranged to discuss the details.
