James Parsons

The ceremony to commemorate and celebrate the life of James Parsons, Soldier, Banker and Potter, was held at the Watts Gallery, Compton on August 20th, where he volunteered and tutored.

James Parsons (2)

James attended West Street Potters’ classes for several years adapting his understanding of ceramics for students at the Watts .

As he said when he began this role – “I’m learning on the job”.

James was a joy to teach. Everyone who came in contact with him warm-hearted and generous spirited enthusiasm was fond of him.

One member’s comment cannot be bettered, “He was the man I would like to have been, if I could have chosen”.

WSP can be proud that James ‘spread the word’ using the skills that he took on board while being part of the group.
