We have a date to undertake the repair of the Gas Kiln Chimney of 4th October.
Oxidation glaze firings can be done in the new electric kiln so please discuss options with your tutor and we will work out timetable to fit them in with the bisc firings.
The Farnham Pottery Christmas Fair is taking place this year on Friday 9th December between 6pm and 9.30pm.
West Street Potter members are very welcome to take part.
This will be the 4th Farnham Pottery annual Christmas Fair and happily always proves to attract quite a crowd.
The cost of each table is £25 as before.
Please let Elaine know ASAP if you would like to take part. Email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The number of stalls is restricted to thirty and these will be allocated accordingly.
We have had to disconnect the gas kiln hood due to a serious problem with the chimney.
Unfortunately there will be no gas firings until the chimney is replaced. We are in discussions with Northern Kilns and it is hoped that work to do this will be within the next few weeks.
Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible and we thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. Please be aware that the glaze shelves will become very crowded as they try to accommodate the back log and it may be best if you do not glaze any further bisque ware until the gas kiln is up and running again.
On a positive note, you have hopefully noticed the new biscuit kiln has been installed…..
Kiln being sold by a member of PACS, guessing collection is from Petersfield if you are interested.
Northern kilns came up with the goods again. The vintage 1970’s Electric Kiln died at the end of last term and is now replaced with a new model designed for WSP needs. Thanks to measuring and re-measuring and measuring again the old kiln was squeezed out with a centimetre to spare and the new moved in. The new kiln has the potential to retain heat while firing is in progress but cool faster . Industrial grade elements should last, saving frequent maintenance.
A huge thank you to Kathy Mason for being the organiser and Julia holding the tape (during the holidays ) to ensure that a kiln was in action for the new term.
Wishing Jitka and Justin our pottery love and the best of wishes for their wedding this Saturday.
We hope you have an absolutely fantastic day, full of happiness, laughter, dancing, fun and wonderful memories!
From all at West Street Potters.
Harvesting the hops during HODs weekend at Farnham Pottery…..beautiful sunny Sunday fun!
