Ceramicus 2010 – Oxmarket Centre of Arts, Chichester

Write up of the Ceramicus exhibition from Shirley.

On Sunday 21st November this enthusiastic group of ceramicists spent several hours setting up the exhibition in the main gallery.  Everything from assembling plinths, moving blocks and final painting was shared with willing cooperation before they arranged their work.

The result is an amazing display of ceramics.  The variety of work is remarkable; sculptural pots, salt glazed vessels, Ash glazing in many forms, Raku, colourful glazed work, smoked porcelain each individual showing high quality work in their own special way.

The exhibition opened at 6pm with many friends gathered for a joyful evening, celebrating the beauty of clay and the many ways in which it can be transformed.

The members of Ceramicus have all worked with West Street Potters, some for many years. We all hope this tradition will continue to enrich our lives for many more years to come.

The members of the group are: Judith Anderson, Leah Brand, Mike Bush, Christiane Hayles, Nigel Hobbs, Simon Hunt,Veronica Jeans, Hilary Macdonald. Fran Payne, Nina Peskett, Tim Pilsbury, Shirley Shiner, Katerina Evangelidou and Graham Ellerby.
